What is the Service for?
The Bexhill Primary Care Network Children and Young People’s service offers social support and low-intensity mental health interventions for children and young people aged 5–18 who are registered with a Bexhill GP practice.
We work closely alongside families, schools, and GP services to help bridge gaps in support and ensure children receive the right help at the right time. By creating strong partnerships between home, education, and healthcare, we provide joined-up support that focuses on each child’s individual needs.
Who we see?
We are a no wrong door service, meaning children, young people, professionals and families can come to us with any concern and we will ensure they are guided to the right support. If a child or family’s needs sit outside of our direct offer, we will work to identify, connect, and refer to the most appropriate service — ensuring no one is left without help.
The service supports those experiencing mild to moderate emotional wellbeing difficulties, including anxiety (such as social, separation, school or simple phobias), low mood or mild to moderate depression, stress, sleep difficulties, behavioural challenges, anger, low self-esteem, and mild health anxiety.
It is also suitable for Children and Young People and families who would benefit from emotional wellbeing education, care coordination, signposting to local services, or up to 6–8 sessions of focused intervention. Our social support includes assisting families to access local services, navigate financial support, explore employment opportunities, and secure appropriate educational provision to ensure children and families receive the wider support they need.
The service cannot see Children and Young People who require urgent or crisis support, have severe or complex mental health needs, require formal diagnostic assessments, or need long-term/high-intensity therapy. This includes conditions such as PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, psychosis, severe depression, significant self-harm or suicidality, and personality disorders.
The service cannot work with those over 18, or those currently receiving active CAMHS interventions. Engagement is essential, and referrals may be discharged if contact cannot be established after repeated attempts.
